Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake backing plate (1).

  2. Install the wheel bearing/hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Disc Brake) and Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (Drum Brake)
  3. Secure the rear park brake cable end fitting (1) to the brake backing plate.

  4. Install the wheel cylinder. Refer to Rear Brake Cylinder Replacement .
  5. Install the brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement .
  6. Adjust the drum brakes. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
  7. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
  8. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual Bleeding) and Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure Bleeding) .
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
