Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, exterior lamps OFF, remove the appropriate E4 Headlamp - Low Beam. It may take up to 2 min for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Test for less than 15 Ω between the ground circuit at the socket terminal and ground.
- Ignition OFF.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Install the E4 Headlamp - Low Beam.
- Disconnect the X1 harness connector at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 74 and ground.
- Ignition OFF.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection.
- Disconnect the X2 harness connector at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper between the appropriate control circuit terminal listed below and B+.
- Terminal 29 X1 - left low beam
- Terminal 4 X2 - right low beam
- Verify the appropriate E4 Headlamp - Low Beam illuminates.
- If the headlamp low beam does not illuminate
- Ignition OFF, remove the appropriate E4 Headlamp - Low Beam.
- Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the control circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the appropriate E4 Headlamp - Low Beam.
- If the headlamp low beam illuminates
- Ignition OFF, connect the appropriate harness connector listed below at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
- X1 - left low beam
- X2 - right low beam
- Disconnect the X4 harness connector at the K9 Body Control Module, ignition ON
- Verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the appropriate control circuit terminal listed below and ground.
- Terminal 2 - left low beam
- Terminal 1 - right low beam
- If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate harness connector at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood, ignition ON.
- X1 - left low beam
- X2 - right low beam
- Test for less than 1 V between the control circuit terminal and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V, replace the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Ignition OFF, connect a 3 A fused jumper between the appropriate control circuit terminal listed below and B+, ignition ON.
- Terminal 2 - left low beam
- Terminal 1 - right low beam
- Verify the appropriate headlamp low beam illuminates.
- If the headlamp low beam does not illuminate
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate harness connector listed below at the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
- X1 - left low beam
- X2 - right low beam
- Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the control circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the X50A Fuse Block - Underhood.
- If the headlamp low beam illuminates
- Test or replace the K9 Body Control Module.
