Airbag Sensing and Diagnostic Module Replacement

WARNING:

Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Before applying power to the SDM, make sure that it is securely fastened with the arrow facing toward the front of the vehicle. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling 
  2. If a replacement module is installed, save current module specification. Control Module References
  3. Electrical Connector @ Front Seat Belt Retractor - Disconnect [4x] Driver or Passenger Seat Retractor Side Belt Replacement (Driver)Driver or Passenger Seat Retractor Side Belt Replacement (Passenger)
  4. Front Floor Console Replacement
1 Airbag Sensing and Diagnostic Module Assembly Bolt [4x]
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

  1. Remove and DISCARD
  2. Install a NEW nut.

Tighten 
24 N.m (18 lb ft)
2 Airbag Sensing and Diagnostic Module Assembly

Procedure

  1. Electrical Connector - Disconnect
  2. If a replacement module is installed, program the module. Control Module References
