- Before the ECM performs the idle test, the vehicle must be driven under the conditions listed below:
- Engine speed is greater than 1,100 RPM for at least 5 s since end of last idle period.
- Engine run time is greater than 100 s.
- Vehicle speed is less than 1.6 km/h (1 mph).
- Throttle position is less than 1 %.
- Mass air flow (MAF) is between 4-11 g/s.
- Engine is operating in Closed Loop.
- Fuel trim learn is enabled.
- Engine coolant temperature (ECT) is between 45-125°C (113-257°F).
- Barometric pressure (BARO) is greater than 70 kPa.
- Catalytic converter calculated temperature parameter is between 525-900°C (977-1,652°F) for greater than 6 min.
- Intake air temperature (IAT) is between -20 and +250°C (-4 and +482°F).
- Battery voltage is greater than 11 V.
- Transmission is in Drive Range-Automatic transmissions only.
- Short term fuel trim avg. is between 0.9 and 1.1 %.
- Engine is idling for less than 50 s.
- This diagnostic attempts one test during each valid idle period when the above conditions have been met. This diagnostic attempts up to 8 tests during each drive cycle.
