Supercharger Assemble: Notes

  1. Install the NEW gaskets (2).
  2. Install NEW gasket rivets (1).

  4. Install the NEW dowels (2) (Qty: 2) into the supercharger assembly (1).

    NOTE:

    Clean all residual room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant from the sealing surfaces of both the supercharger assembly and supercharger front cover assembly before attempting to install the supercharger front cover assembly.

  6. Apply a 2 mm (0.08 in) bead of RTV sealant (1) around the perimeter of the sealing surface of the NEW supercharger front cover assembly. The bead should remain inside of the outer perimeter fastener holes as shown.

    NOTE:

    The damper coupling (4) will be held in place with tape on both sides. Remove the tape and ensure the spring and damper coupling stays in the same orientation when installing the supercharger front cover assembly.

  8. Carefully install the supercharger front cover assembly (3).
  9. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

  10. Install and hand tighten the NEW short supercharger front cover assembly bolts (1) (Qty: 4).
  11. Install and hand tighten the NEW long supercharger front cover assembly bolts (2) (Qty: 2).

  13. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
    1. Tighten all bolts a first pass to 27 (20 lb ft).
    2. Tighten bolts (1) and (2) a second pass to 27 (20 lb ft).
  14. Inspect through the air inlet that no RTV sealant has squeezed into the inside of the supercharger front cover assembly. If there is RTV sealant present in the inside of the front cover assembly, wipe it clean before the sealant cures.
  15. Allow RTV sealant to cure for at least one hour after the supercharger front cover assembly is installed.

    NOTE:

    The actuator adjustment tool is provided within the actuator parts kit.

  17. Install the actuator adjustment tool onto the actuator. Position the raised portion of the rod in the proper position.

  19. Install the rod of the actuator into the lever of the supercharger.
  20. Rotate the actuator and install the bolts. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.

  22. Moving the actuator forward or rearward as required, ensure that the supercharger lever is in contact with the adjustment screw on the actuator and that the lever is rotated to the fully closed position.
  23. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  24. Tighten the actuator bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  25. Remove the adjustment tool from the actuator.
  26. Rotate the adjustment screw on the actuator clockwise 1/4 turn.

  28. Install the charge air bypass valve (3).
  29. Install the charge air bypass valve bolt (2) and tighten to 12 N.m (108 lb ft).
  30. Install the NEW bypass actuator tube (1).

  32. Confirm that the evaporative emission (EVAP) valve seal (2) is installed on the EVAP valve (1).
  33. Install the EVAP valve (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  35. Confirm that the inlet air pressure sensor seal (3) is installed on the sensor (2).
  36. Install the inlet air pressure sensor (2).
  37. Install the inlet air pressure sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  39. Install the NEW bypass valve vacuum tube (2).
  40. Install the NEW bypass valve tube (1).

  42. Install the NEW insulator seals (1).

  44. Apply a 5 mm (0.2 in) band of threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489), or equivalent, to the threads of the bolts.
  45. Install the NEW O-ring seals (1), charger air cooler (2) and bolts (3) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  47. Lubricate the seals with clean engine oil.
  48. Install NEW seal (3), the plate (2), the bolts (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  50. Confirm that the BARO sensor seal (3) is installed on the BARO sensor (2).
  51. Install the BARO sensor (2).
  52. Install the BARO sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  54. Install sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent, to the threads of the sensor (1).
  55. Install the IAT sensor (1) and tighten to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  57. Confirm that the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor seal (3) is installed on the MAP sensor (2).
  58. Install the MAP sensor (2).
  59. Install the MAP sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
