Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection (LS7)

- Remove the oil filter fitting (438), as required.
- Remove the oil pump suction pipe (407), bolts (405), and gasket (406).
- Discard the gasket (406).
- Clean the suction pipe and inspect for debris, restrictions, or other damage.
- Remove the oil pan drain plugs (1).
- Inspect the oil pan drain plugs threads for damage.
- Clean the oil pan in solvent.
- Dry the oil pan with compressed air.
- Inspect the oil pan for the following conditions:
- Damaged gasket surfaces (1)
- Restrictions within the oil passages (2) of the pan
- Damaged oil filter seal surface (3)
- Threaded bolt holes (4) for damage
- Inspect the oil pan internal oil passages (1-4) for restrictions.
- Inspect the oil hose mating surfaces (1) for scoring or other damage.
- Inspect the oil pan plug (457) for a loose fit or leakage.
- Install the oil pan drain plugs (1) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Install the oil pump suction pipe (407), bolts (405), and gasket (406).
- Tighten the oil pump suction pipe bolts (405) to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
- Install the oil filter fitting (438), as required, and tighten to 55 N.m (40 lb ft).
