Engine Flywheel Removal (LSA)

J-42386-A  Flywheel Holding Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

NOTE:

Note the position and direction of the engine flywheel before removal. The flywheel does not use a locating pin for alignment. Mark or scribe the end of the crankshaft and the flywheel before component removal. The existing manual transmission engine flywheel must be installed to the original position and direction.

1. Mark or scribe the end of the crankshaft and the manual transmission flywheel. Refer to Engine Balancing (LSA) .

CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

2. Install the J-42386-A  flywheel holding tool and bolts.

   Use 1 M10 -1.5 x 120 mm and 1 M10 -1.5 x 45 mm bolt for proper tool operation.

   Tighten the J-42386-A  flywheel holding tool and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

NOTE:

Do NOT reuse the flywheel bolts.

3. Remove and discard the flywheel bolts (1).
4. Remove the manual transmission flywheel (2).

5. Note the location of the manual transmission flywheel balance weights (1), if applicable. Refer to Engine Balancing (LSA) .
6. Remove the J-42386-A  flywheel holding tool
