Engine Flywheel Installation (LSA)

Special Tools
J-42386-A Flywheel Holding Tool
For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .
- Install the flywheel (2) to the crankshaft.
- Apply threadlocker to the threads of the flywheel bolts (1). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Install and hand tighten the NEW flywheel bolts (1).
- Install the J-42386-A
flywheel holding tool and bolts.
Use 1 M10 -1.5 x 120 mm and 1 M10 -1.5 x 45 mm bolt for proper tool operation.
Tighten the J-42386-A flywheel holding tool and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Tighten the flywheel bolts (1).
- Tighten the bolts a first pass to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Tighten the bolts a final pass an additional 45 degrees.
- Remove the J-42386-A flywheel holding tool
CAUTION:
This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.
NOTE:
The flywheel does not use a locating pin for alignment and will not initially seat against the crankshaft flange, but will be pulled onto the crankshaft by the engine flywheel bolts.
