Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe and Hole Cover Installation (LS3, L99, or LS7)

    NOTE:

    Position the gasket O-ring seal (308) onto the nipple portion of the pipe.

  1. Install the seals onto the engine coolant air bleed pipe and covers.

  3. Install the pipe (307) and gaskets (308).
  4. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Install the bolts (309) and tighten to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

    NOTE:

    Production engines use a rivet-type plug at the top rear coolant passage of each cylinder head. If service of a leaking plug is required, it is necessary to remove the cylinder head from the engine to properly remove the plug. Refer to Cylinder Head Disassemble .

  7. As required, install either a new plug or the earlier design coolant air bleed covers (313) and gaskets (308). Refer to Cylinder Head Assemble .
  8. Install the bolts (312).
  9. Tighten the cover bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).
