Removal Procedure

    NOTE:

    Prior to the disconnecting the PCV tubes from the oil tank, mark the port locations to the proper tubes or they can be installed incorrectly.

  1. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tubes (1) from the oil tank.
  2. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LSA, LS3, L99) Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LS7) .
  3. Remove the front compartment air deflector. Refer to Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement .

  5. Disconnect the oil temperature sensor electrical connector (1).

    NOTE:

    Anytime the oil tank inlet and outlet hoses are serviced, the oil seals must be replaced.

  7. Remove the inlet hose to oil tank nut (1) and disconnect the hose (2) from the oil tank. Discard the oil seal (3).

  9. Remove the outlet hose to oil tank nut (1) and disconnect the hose (2) from the oil tank. Discard the oil seal (3).

  11. Remove the bracket bolt (1), nuts (2) and bracket (3).

  13. Remove the oil tank lower bracket to tank bolts (1).
  14. Remove the oil tank from the top of the vehicle.
