Installation Procedure

CAUTION:

Refer to Engine Oil Tank Debris Caution .

  1. If reusing oil tank after experiencing any malfunction which may have caused debris to enter the oil supply the tank must be cleaned and inspected. Refer to Oil Tank Cleaning and Inspection (LS7) .
  2. Position the oil tank in place from the top of the vehicle.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install the oil tank lower bracket to tank bolts and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

  6. Install the oil level indicator tube bracket (3). Install nuts (2) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  7. Install bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  9. Using a NEW oil seal (3), install the oil tank outlet hose (2) and nut (1) to the oil tank. Tighten the outlet hose to oil tank nut (1) to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  11. Using a NEW oil seal (3), install the oil tank inlet hose (2) and nut (1) to the oil tank. Tighten the inlet hose to oil tank nut (1) to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  13. Connect the oil temperature sensor electrical connector (1).
  14. Install the front compartment air deflector. Refer to Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement .
  15. Lower the vehicle.

  17. Connect the PCV tubes (1) to the oil tank.
  18. Change the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LSA, LS3, L99) Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LS7) .
