Preliminary Procedures Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) , Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) . Remove intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement . Disconnect the heater outlet hose from the heater core tube. Refer to Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Heater Core Outlet Tube to Heater Outlet Pipe LKW) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Auxiliary Water Pump to Heater Outlet Pipe LKW) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (Radiator Surge Tank Auxiliary to Warer Pump to Water Outlet LKW) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LUK) , Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LTG) . Disconnect the heater inlet hose from the heater core tube. Refer to Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LKW) , Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LUK) , Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LTG) .
1	Air Conditioning Evaporator Throttle Expansion Valve and Brake Pipe Heat Shield Retainer CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Procedure Lift the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
2	Air Conditioning Evaporator Throttle Expansion Valve and Brake Pipe Heat Shield Retainer Procedures Lower the vehicle. Move the vacuum lines and any wiring harness out of the way.
3	Air Conditioning Evaporator Throttle Expansion Valve and Brake Pipe Heat Shield Procedures Level the engine coolant to the proper level. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) , Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) . Inspect for engine coolant leaks.
