Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the intake camshaft actuator. Refer to Camshaft Position Intake Actuator Replacement (LKW) .
  2. Remove the fuel pump. Refer to Fuel Pump Replacement .

    NOTE:
    • Locate and use pry points to aid in removing the cap.
    • When using the pry points to remove the front bearing cap, use a protective material between the camshaft lobes, the cylinder head flange, and pry tool.
    • Use suitable tool simultaneous to pry the upper front bearing cap away from the lower bearing cap evenly.
  3. Remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts (1).
  4. Remove the camshaft bearing caps (2) and (3).

  5. Remove the intake camshaft (1).
  6. For camshaft cleaning and inspection, refer to Camshaft Cleaning and Inspection (LKW) .
