Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Preliminary Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) , Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) .
2. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LTG) , Intake Manifold Cover Replacement (LKW) .
3. If equipped with a LTG engine, remove the charge air cooler outlet air tube. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement (LTG) .

Procedure

1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the engine coolant temperature sensor.
2. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor from the thermostat housing.
3. Install a NEW seal if not replacing the sensor.
