Circuit/System Testing
- Vehicle OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B37 Engine Oil Pressure Switch.
- Vehicle in Service Mode, verify the scan tool ECM - Engine Oil Pressure Switch parameter is OK.
- If not OK
- Vehicle OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal A and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- If infinite resistance, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
- If OK
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- Verify the scan tool Engine Oil Pressure Switch parameter is Low.
- If not Low
- Vehicle OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the K20 Engine Control Module, vehicle in Service Mode.
- Test for less than 1 V between the signal circuit and ground.
- If 1 V or greater, repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
- If Low
- Command the All Indicators test ON and OFF with the scan tool.
- Verify the engine oil pressure indicator turns ON and OFF as commanded.
- If the engine oil pressure indicator does not turn ON and OFF when commanded
Replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
- If the engine oil pressure indicator turns ON and OFF when commanded
- If the engine oil pressure indicator does not turn ON and OFF when commanded
- Test or replace the B37 Engine Oil Pressure Switch.
