Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the front suspension skid plate, if equipped. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Skid Plate Replacement .
- Place basin underneath.
- Clean away all dirt and debris from transmission case plug area.
- Remove the clutch and differential housing cover bolts (1).
- Remove the clutch and differential housing cover (2) and allow the transmission to drain completely.
- Remove and DISCARD the clutch and differential housing cover gasket.
WARNING:
The transmission fluid is hot. Caution must be taken to prevent personal injury when the transmission fluid drains from the transmission.
NOTE:
If the front differential carrier cover is removed, the transmission fluid is discharged.
