Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    WARNING:

    The transmission fluid is hot. Caution must be taken to prevent personal injury when the transmission fluid drains from the transmission.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front suspension skid plate, if equipped. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Skid Plate Replacement .
  3. Place basin underneath.
  4. Clean away all dirt and debris from transmission case plug area.

    NOTE:

    If the front differential carrier cover is removed, the transmission fluid is discharged.

  6. Remove the clutch and differential housing cover bolts (1).
  7. Remove the clutch and differential housing cover (2) and allow the transmission to drain completely.
  8. Remove and DISCARD the clutch and differential housing cover gasket.
