Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side




Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side

Removal Procedure

Note: When raising or supporting the engine for any reason, do not use a jack under any sheet metal or the crankshaft pulley.

1. Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.

2. Partially raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

3. Remove the right wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (GMC) Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Chevrolet) .




4. Remove the engine mount to frame bolts (1).

5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

6. Undo clip for transmission cooler lines.

7. Undo the front stabilizer shaft insulators. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement Service and Repair.

8. Support the differential carrier with a transmission jack.

9. Remove the right differential carrier mounting nuts and washers.

10. Lower the differential carrier until it rests on frame/crossmember.

11. Remove the right front differential carrier support bracket.

12. Position a screw jack and a block of wood under the engine oil pan.

13. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Replacement (Diesel) Service and RepairStarter Replacement (V6) Service and RepairStarter Replacement (V8) Service and Repair.

14. Remove the knock sensor. Refer to Knock Sensor 2 Replacement Knock Sensor 2 Replacement.




15. Remove the engine mount to engine bolts (1).

16. Using the adjustable jack, raise the engine slightly until there is enough clearance to remove the engine mount.




17. Remove the engine mount.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the engine mount to the engine.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the engine mount to engine bolts (1) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).

3. Using the adjustable jack, lower the engine until the engine mount is sitting flush on the frame.

4. Remove the adjustable jack and block of wood from the engine oil pan.

5. Partially lower the vehicle.




6. Install the engine mount to frame bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to 65 Nm (48 lb ft) starting with the middle bolt then either side bolt.

7. Install the right wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (GMC) Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (Chevrolet) .

8. Raise the vehicle.

9. Install the knock sensor. Refer to Knock Sensor 2 Replacement Knock Sensor 2 Replacement.

10. Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Replacement (Diesel) Service and RepairStarter Replacement (V6) Service and RepairStarter Replacement (V8) Service and Repair.

11. Install the right front differential carrier bracket. Tighten the front differential carrier mounting bracket bolts to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).

12. Support and raise the differential carrier with a transmission jack.

13. Install the right differential carrier mounting nuts and washers and tighten to 100 Nm (75 lb ft).

14. Remove the transmission jack from the differential carrier.

15. Install the front stabilizer shaft insulators. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Replacement Service and Repair.

16. Install the clip for the transmission cooler lines.

17. Lower the vehicle.

18. Install the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
