Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S78 Turn Signal/Multifunction Switch.
- Ignition OFF for more than 60 s, test for less than 5 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch parameter is Undefined.
- If not Undefined, test the signal circuits terminal 5 and terminal 12 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster
- Ignition ON, install a 680 Ω resistance between the signal circuit terminal 12 and the low reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch parameter is Up.
- If not Up, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
- Ignition ON, install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and the low reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch is Menu.
- If not Menu, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S78 Turn Signal/Multifunction Switch.
