Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S78 Turn Signal/Multifunction Switch.
  2. Ignition OFF for more than 60 s, test for less than 5 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
  3. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch parameter is Undefined.
    • If not Undefined, test the signal circuits terminal 5 and terminal 12 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster
  4. Ignition ON, install a 680 Ω resistance between the signal circuit terminal 12 and the low reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch parameter is Up.
    • If not Up, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
  5. Ignition ON, install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and the low reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch is Menu.
    • If not Menu, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S78 Turn Signal/Multifunction Switch.
