Power Steering Fluid Cooler Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Place drain pans under the vehicle.

2. Remove as much power steering fluid from the reservoir as possible.

3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

4. Remove the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement.





5. Loosen the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1, 4) from the power steering fluid cooler (2, 3).





6. Remove the bolt (2) from the power steering fluid cooler (1).

7. Disconnect the retainer (3) and the power steering fluid cooler from the front end lower tie bar.





8. Remove the bolt (2) from the power steering fluid cooler (1).





9. Remove the power steering fluid cooler (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Caution:
Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Caution.

1. Position the power steering fluid cooler (1) in the vehicle.





2. Connect the retainer (3) and the power steering fluid cooler (1) to the front end lower tie bar.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the bolt (2) to the power steering fluid cooler and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in).





4. Connect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (1, 4) to the power steering fluid cooler (2, 3). Secure the pipe with the 2 hose clamps.





5. Install the bolt (2) to the power steering fluid cooler (1) and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in).

6. Install the radiator air lower baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement.

7. Lower the vehicle.

8. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.

9. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.

10. Remove the drain pans.
