Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor at the transmission.
  2. Test for less than 5 Ω between the low reference circuit at the B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor terminal A and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
  3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5 V circuit at the B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor terminal C and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the 5 V circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the 5 V circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X1 at the K20 Engine Control Module
  5. Ignition ON, test for less than 0.3 V between the signal circuit terminal B at the B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  6. Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal B at the B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor and ground and also between the K20 Engine Control Module X1 terminal 56 and ground.
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.
  7. Test for less than 5 Ω between the signal circuit at the B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor terminal B and the K20 Engine Control Module X1 terminal A56.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.
  8. If all circuits tests normal, replace the B115 Vehicle Speed Sensor.
  9. Operate the vehicle within the conditions for running and setting the DTC, verify the DTC does not reset.
    • If the DTC resets, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
