Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the cover (2) from the underhood electrical center.
- Remove the underhood positive battery terminal lug (4).
- Disconnect the positive battery cables (5) from the underhood electrical center.
- Reposition the body harness from the electrical center top cover.
- Loosen all of the underhood electrical center bolts (3).
- Remove the underhood electrical center (1) from the vehicle.
- Remove the engine control module. Refer to Engine Control Module Replacement for the 2.0L engine or Engine Control Module Replacement for the 2.2L or 2.4L engine.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the junction block bracket.
- Remove the bracket lower bolts (2).
- Remove the junction block bracket support nut (1).
- Remove the junction block bracket (3).
NOTE:
Take note of the positioning of the positive battery cables before disconnecting the cables.
NOTE:
The underhood electrical center bolts (3) are retained in the electrical center.
