Removal Procedure

- Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Use paint in order to place a match mark on the inner tie rod at the inner tie rod nut.
- Loosen the rack and pinion inner tie rod nut.
- Remove the rack and pinion outer tie rod end nut.
Discard the nut.
- Use the J-24319-B: puller in order to separate the rack and pinion outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
- Remove the rack and pinion outer tie rod end from the rack and pinion inner tie rod.
- Remove the rack and pinion inner tie rod nut.
Discard the nut.
- Inspect the rack and pinion inner tie rod threads for any damage or debris. Clean or repair the rack and pinion inner tie rod as necessary.
NOTE:
Count the number of rotations necessary to remove the rack and pinion outer tie rod end from the rack and pinion inner tie rod.
