Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection

  1. Clean the oil pan mating surface.

  3. Remove the oil pan baffle bolts.
  4. NOTE: Do not remove the pickup screen. It is press-fit into the oil pan.
  5. Remove the oil pan baffle.
  6. Clean the oil pan. Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits.
  7. Inspect the engine oil drain plug threads.
  8. Inspect the oil pan for cracking near the pan rail and the transmission mounting points.
  9. Inspect the oil pan for cracking resulting from impact or flying road debris.
  10. Inspect the oil pan baffle and pickup screen.
  11. Install the oil pan baffle.
  12. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  13. Install the oil pan baffle bolts and tighten to 14 N.m (10 lb ft).
