Camshaft Cleaning and Inspection

- Inspect the camshaft journals and lobes for wear or scoring.
- Inspect the camshaft sprocket alignment notch for damage.
- Inspect the camshaft cover for damage or loose oil control baffles.
- Inspect the PCV hose attached to the camshaft cover. Replace the camshaft cover if damage to the PCV hose is present.
- Clean the camshaft cover.
- Wash the camshaft in solvent.
- Oil the camshaft.
- Inspect the camshaft cover for cracks or other signs of damage.
IMPORTANT:
The PCV hose should not be disconnected from the camshaft cover. The PCV hose and camshaft cover cannot be serviced individually.
