Engine Control Module (ECM)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Pontiac G5 and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The engine control module (ECM) controls all ignition system functions, and constantly corrects the spark timing. The ECM monitors information from various sensor inputs that include the following:
- Throttle position sensor
- Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
- Mass air flow (MAF) sensor
- Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor
- Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
- Engine knock sensor
- Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor
