Special Tools

    WARNING: To reduce the possibility of personal injury or transmission damage, make sure, when doing the next step, that all of the bolts for the support fixture are installed as shown, and that the bolts are tightened to 11 N.m (98 lb in).
    NOTE: J 41230:  support fixture should be updated using J 41230-TEM:  drill template due to transmission mounting changes.
  1. Install the J 41230:  support fixture transmission support fixture onto the transmission.
  2. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  3. Install the support fixture bolts. Tighten the support fixture bolts to 11 N.m (8 lb ft).
  4. Install the transmission and the support fixture onto the J 3289-20:  holding fixture base.
  5. Position the transmission with the side cover facing down.
  6. Insert the pin into the J 3289-20:  holding fixture base in order to lock the unit into place.
