Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Pontiac G5 and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LE5, L61)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill LNF)  or Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716 Fill) .
    2. Fig 1: Surge Tank

  2. Reposition the surge tank inlet hose clamp using J 38185  . See Special Tools .
  3. Remove the surge tank inlet hose from the surge tank.
  4. Remove the underhood junction block and bracket. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Bracket Replacement

  5. Lift the surge tank and reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamp using J 38185  . See Special Tools .
  6. Remove the surge tank outlet hose.

  7. Disconnect the coolant level sensor electrical connector.
  8. Remove the surge tank.
