Circuit/System Verification

Perform the Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check to verify correct fluid level and condition. The transmission fluid level should be within the crosshatch band and the transmission fluid should be red or dark brown.
- If the transmission fluid is low or discolored, refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid Filter and Seal Replacement .
Operate the vehicle at 72 km/h (45 mph) with the throttle position at 20 percent. Command the TCC ON with a scan tool while observing the scan tool TCC Slip Speed parameter. The reading should be below 175 RPM.
- If the TCC Slip Speed is greater than 175 RPM for greater than 5 seconds, inspect for the following conditions and repair/replace as necessary:

TCC PWM solenoid valve mechanically stuck OFF leaking
TCC regulator apply valve stuck in the OFF position
TCC Sol valve stuck in the OFF position or leaking
TCC enable valve stuck in the OFF position
Misaligned damaged or leaking valve body gasket
Inspect the forward clutch input housing assembly for the input shaft fluid seal ring leaking or worn

If the TCC Slip Speed is between 150-1,500 RPM for greater than 5 seconds, inspect for the following conditions and repair/replace as necessary:
- Clogged exhaust orifice in the TCC solenoid valve
- Converter clutch apply valve stuck in the apply position
- Misaligned or damaged valve body gasket
- Restricted release passage
- Restricted transmission cooler line
Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
