Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Pontiac G5 and 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    IMPORTANT: Additional DTCs may set when disconnecting the automatic transmission (AT) inline 20-way connector.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the AT harness connector at the transmission.
  2. Install the J 44152  on the engine side of the AT inline 20-way connector. See Special Tools .
  3. Ignition OFF, test for less than 10 ohms between the low reference circuit terminal M and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the TCM.
  4. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Trans. Fluid Temp. parameter is at -40°C (-40°F).
    • If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal L for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the TCM.
  5. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal L and the low reference circuit terminal M. Verify the scan tool Trans. Fluid Temp. parameter is greater than 100°C (212°F).
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the TCM.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test the internal transmission wiring harness assembly and the TFT sensor.
