Transmission Case Assemble: Assemble

- Carefully tap in a new transaxle vent filter from the inside out.
- Press in the input shaft bearing race using the 87 92 202: race sleeve. Use the 87 91 188: support as a base for the pressing operation.
- Install the input shaft bearing retainer using 1.5 mm (0.06 in) of shims, and tighten the screws evenly in a crisscross pattern and tighten the input shaft bearing retainer bolts to 38 N.m (28 lb ft).
- Press in the output shaft bearing race using the 83 90 312: input shaft. Use the 87 91 188: support as the base for the pressing operation.
CAUTION:
Use a hollow drift or wrap a short piece of tubing around the vent filter when tapping into the case. If the mesh of the vent is damaged during installation, it will no longer perform its venting function, and may cause transaxle fluid leaks at other locations.
NOTE:
Do not install the differential bearing or seal retainer at this time.
