Installation Procedure

Install the accelerator pedal position sensor to the brake pedal bracket.

CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the accelerator pedal position sensor mounting bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the bolts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

Install the brake pedal assembly, with the accelerator pedal position sensor to the vehicle.
Connect the brake pedal position sensor electrical connector.
Install the vacuum brake booster nuts (1).
Tighten: Tighten the nuts to 17 N.m (14 lb ft).
Install the brake pedal bracket-to-steering column bracket bolt.
Tighten: Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

Apply a thin coat of high temperature grease GM P/N 12345994 (Canadian P/N 10953501) to the pushrod pin on the brake pedal.
Install the brake pedal pushrod to the brake pedal pivot pin.
Install the brake pedal pushrod washer (1).

Install the brake pedal pushrod nut (1).
Tighten: Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration .

Connect the electrical connector to the accelerator pedal position sensor.
Secure the accelerator pedal position sensor jumper harness to the brake pedal bracket.
Secure the electric power steering wiring harness to the brake pedal bracket.
Install the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement .
