Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Use only the approved sealer for the transmission case to shifter cover mating surface.
  1. Apply sealer P/N 12378516 to the transmission case to shifter cover mating surface.

  3. Install the shifter.
  4. NOTE: It will be necessary to move the shifter lever when installing and tightening the bolts.
  5. Hand start all the shifter bolts.
  6. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Tighten the Shifter bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  8. Verify that the transmission is still in neutral position.
  9. NOTE: To avoid damage to the shifter guide bolt, hand start the bolt.
  10. Apply P/N 21485278 to the shifter guide bolt and install the shifter guide bolt. Hand tighten only.
  11. Tighten the shifter guide bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  13. Connect the shift cables to the transmission.
  14. Install the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
