Parking Brake Adjustment (9C3)
WARNING:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning .
- Fully release the parking brake lever.
- Remove the front floor console rear cover (1) by lifting the rear edge and gently pulling upward.
- Loosen the park brake cable adjustment bolt (1) several turns to allow slack in the park brake cables.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Hand install 2 wheel nuts on opposite wheel studs of each wheel hub to secure the brake rotors.
- Ensure each rear wheel rotates freely by hand.
- Rotate the brake rotor until the parking brake shoe adjuster access grommet (1) is in the 6 o'clock position.
- Remove the parking brake shoe adjuster access grommet.
- Slowly rotate the adjuster nut (1) until the brake rotor cannot be rotated.
- Loosen the adjuster nut 3-5 clicks.
- Ensure the brake rotor can be rotated by hand without binding.
- Repeat steps 8-12 for the opposite parking brake shoe.
- Install the parking brake shoe adjuster access grommets.
- Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle until the rear wheels are just above the floor.
- Apply the parking brake lever 5-6 clicks.
- Tighten the park brake cable adjustment bolt (1) until the slack in the park brake cables is removed.
- Attempt to rotate the rear tire and wheel assemblies.
- The tire and wheel assemblies should not be able to be rotated forward or rearward.
- Fully release the park brake lever.
- Ensure the rear tire and wheel assemblies rotate freely by hand.
- Fully lower the vehicle.
- Install the front floor console rear cover (1).
