Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the hood latch. Refer to Hood Primary and Secondary Latch Replacement .

  3. Disconnect the hood release cable (1) from the hood latch (2).
  4. Remove the carpet retainer. Refer to Front Side Door Opening Floor Carpet Retainer Replacement (Impala) .
  5. Disconnect the hood release cable from the hood release handle.
  6. Tie a piece of string around the hood release cable. This will ease the installation of the hood release cable through the passenger compartment.

  7. Remove the hood release cable grommet (1) from the dash panel.
  8. Note routing of cable.
  9. Remove the hood release cable from the vehicle.
