Coolant Crossover Pipe Cleaning and Inspection

    WARNING: Refer to Cleaning Solvent Warning .
  1. Clean the coolant crossover pipe with solvent.
  2. WARNING: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning .
  3. Dry the coolant crossover pipe with compressed air.

  5. Inspect the front of the coolant crossover pipe for the following:
    • Damage to the coolant fill adapter sealing surface (1)
    • Damage or restrictions to the radiator hose connection (2)
    • Damage or restrictions to the thermal bypass hose connection (3)
    • Damage, blockage, or excessive corrosion to the engine coolant passages
    • Damage or restrictions to any fastener threads
    • Damage or restrictions to any mounting holes

  7. Inspect the rear of the coolant crossover pipe for the following:
    • Damage to the heater inlet/outlet sealing surface (1)
    • Damage to the coolant crossover pipe-to-cylinder head sealing surfaces (2)
    • Damage, blockage, or excessive corrosion to the engine coolant passages
    • Damage or restrictions to any fastener threads
    • Damage or restrictions to any mounting holes
  8. Repair or replace the coolant crossover pipe as necessary.
