Input and 3rd Clutch Disassemble: Disassemble

  1. Use a flat blade screwdriver in order to remove the retaining ring (659) from the input shaft and housing assembly (632).
  2. Remove the input clutch backing plate (658).
  3. Remove all of the input clutch plate assemblies (656, 657).
  4. Remove the input clutch waved plate (655) and the input clutch apply plate (654).

  6. Use a flat blade screwdriver in order to remove the retaining ring (649) from the input shaft and housing assembly (632).
  7. Remove the third clutch backing plate (648)
  8. Remove the third clutch plate assemblies (646, 647).
  9. Remove the third clutch waved plate (645).

  11. Remove the input shaft thrust bearing assembly (644).

  13. Use J-23327:  spring compressor and J-25018-A:  compressor adapter in order to compress the third clutch spring retainer and guide assembly.
  14. NOTE: Do not overexpand the retaining ring during removal.
  15. Use J-8059:  snap ring pliers in order to remove the retaining ring (640) from the input shaft and housing assembly.
  16. Remove J-23327:  spring compressor and J-25018-A:  compressor adapter from the input shaft and housing assembly.

  18. Remove the third clutch retainer and guide spring assembly (643).
  19. Remove the third clutch piston and seal assembly (642).

  21. Use J-23327:  spring compressor in order to compress the input clutch spring and retainer assembly.
  22. NOTE: Do not overexpand the retainer ring during removal.
  23. Use J-8059:  snap ring pliers in order to remove the retainer ring (640) from the input shaft and housing assembly.
  24. Remove J-23327:  spring compressor from the input shaft and housing assembly.

  26. Remove the third clutch piston housing (639).
  27. Remove the input clutch spring and retainer assembly (637).
  28. Remove the input clutch piston assembly (636).

  30. Remove the input clutch piston outer seal (635).

  32. Remove the third clutch piston inner seal (641).
  33. Remove the third clutch housing O-ring seal (638).
  34. Remove the input clutch piston inner seal (634).
  35. CAUTION: Do not damage the grooves on the shaft, when removing the oil seal rings.
  36. Cut the input shaft oil seal rings (628).
  37. Remove the input shaft oil seal rings (628).
