Special Tools

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
WARNING: Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.
WARNING: Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby before performing any on-vehicle service procedures. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury.
  1. Raise and Support the Vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  2. Fig 1: Insert J 45004 Into The Fuel Tank

    NOTE: Lubricate the fuel drain hose with J 36850  or equivalent to aid in hose insertion. Do not use an unapproved lubricant. See Special Tools .
  3. Loosen the lower drain hose clamp in order to separate the drain hose from the fuel tank (1).
  4. Insert the J 45004  into the fuel tank (1) until the hose reaches the bottom of the fuel tank. See Special Tools .
  5. Use a hand or air operated pump device in order to drain as much fuel from the fuel tank as possible.
