Circuit/System Testing
Menu Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch.
- Ignition ON, test for greater than 4.8 V between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
- If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal replace the P16 instrument cluster.
- If all circuits tests normal, replace the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch.
UP, Down, or Set/Clear Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch.
- While holding the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch UP arrow in the UP position, test for 0.55-0.65k Ω between the signal circuit terminal 12 and the low reference terminal 6 at the switch.
- If not within the specified range, replace the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch.
- While holding the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch DOWN arrow in the DOWN position, test for 1.5-1.7k Ω between the signal circuit terminal 12 and the low reference terminal 6 at the switch.
- If not within the specified range, replace the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch.
- While depressing the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch Set/Clr button, test for 3.0-4.0k Ω between the signal circuit terminal 12 and the low reference terminal 6 at the switch.
- If not within the specified range, replace the S78 turn signal/multi-function switch.
- If all circuits tests normal, replace P16 instrument cluster.
