Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Ignition OFF, obtain access to the automatic transmission manual shift switch left and right electrical connectors. Refer to Manual Shift Auxiliary Position Switch Replacement - Steering Wheel .
- Ignition ON, test for 10-13 volts by backprobing terminal 3 on the manual shift switch-left and ground at the battery negative post.
- If less than the specified value, test for a short to ground or an open/high resistance in the ignition voltage circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the automatic transmission manual shift switch-right electrical connector
- Ignition ON, test for 10-13 volts at terminal 2 on the manual shift switch-right harness connector and ground at the battery negative post.
- If less than the specified value, test the ignition voltage circuit from the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit test normal, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left.
- Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between terminal 1 and terminal 2 on the manual shift switch-right, with the switch open.
- If less than the specified value, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-right.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between terminal 1 and terminal 2 with the plus switch closed on the manual shift switch-right.
- If greater than the specified value, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-right.
- Test for infinite resistance between terminal 2 and terminal 3 on the manual shift switch-right with the switch open.
- If less than the specified value, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-right.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between terminal 2 and terminal 3 with the minus switch closed on the manual shift switch-right.
- If greater than the specified value, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-right.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left electrical connector.
- Test for 8.15-8.35 k ohms between terminal 3 and terminal 5 on the manual shift switch-left.
- If not within the specified range, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left.
- Test for 4.27-4.57 k ohms between terminal 2 and terminal 5 with the plus switch closed on the manual shift switch-left.
- If not within the specified range, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left.
- Test for 1.485-1.515 k ohms between terminal 2 and terminal 5 with the minus switch closed on the manual shift switch-left.
- If not within the specified range, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between terminal 1 and terminal 2 with the plus switch closed on manual shift switch-left.
- If greater than the specified value, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left.
- Test for less than 5 ohms between terminal 2 and terminal 4 with the minus switch closed on the manual shift switch-left.
- If greater than the specified value, replace the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 connector at the automatic transmission assembly.
- Ignition OFF, connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between terminal 3 and terminal 5 at the automatic transmission manual shift switch-left.
- Ignition ON, test for 10-13 volts at the harness connector X1 terminal 7.
- If not within the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the TCM.
