- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the outside rearview mirror.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 2 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Command the mirror left and right using the mirror directional switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF as the mirror commanded to the left and right.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test both control circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate door switch.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test both control circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and the control circuit terminal 6.
- Command the mirror up and down using the mirror directional switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF as the mirror commanded up and down.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test both control circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test both control circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the outside rearview mirror motor.
