Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 GMC Acadia, 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2016 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the rear differential clutch control module.
  2. Ignition ON, verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground:
    • If the test lamp illuminates, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground:
    • If less than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the clutch assembly.
  4. Test for 310-113K ohms between the signal circuit terminal 2 and the low reference circuit terminal 4.
    • If less than the specified range, test both circuits for a short together. If the circuits test normal, replace the differential clutch drum assembly.
    • If greater than the specified range, test both circuits for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the differential clutch drum assembly.
  5. If all circuits test normal, replace the rear differential clutch control module.
