Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 GMC Acadia, 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2016 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Rear Door Ajar Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear door latch.
- Test for less than 1 Ω between ground circuit terminal listed below and ground:
- Left Rear door latch - ground circuit terminal 6
- Right Rear door latch - ground circuit terminal 3
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Rear Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Closed.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM
- Left rear door latch - signal circuit terminal 4
- Right rear door latch - signal circuit terminal 1
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal and the ground circuit terminal listed below:
- Left rear door latch - signal circuit terminal 4 and ground circuit terminal 6
- Right rear door latch - signal circuit terminal 1 and ground circuit terminal 3
- Verify the scan tool Rear Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Ajar.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the rear door latch.
Front Door Ajar Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate driver door latch or passenger door latch.
- Test for less than 5 Ω between low reference circuit terminal listed below and ground:
- Driver door latch - ground circuit terminal 8.
- Passenger door latch - ground circuit terminal 3.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door lock/window switch.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Door Ajar Sw. parameter is Inactive.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal listed below for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door lock/window switch.
- Driver door latch - signal circuit terminal 6
- Passenger door latch - signal circuit terminal 1.
- Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal and the low reference circuit terminal listed below:
- Driver door latch - signal circuit terminal 6 and low reference circuit terminal 8
- Passenger door latch - signal circuit terminal 1 and low reference circuit terminal 3.
- Verify the scan tool Rear Door Ajar Switch parameter is Door Ajar.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the door lock/window switch.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver door latch or passenger door latch.
