Circuit/System Testing

Seat Heating Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate S32 Seat Heating Switch.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 7 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Seat Heat Mode Sw. parameter is Inactive.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 4 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate driver or passenger S84 Door Switch Panel Control Module.
- Verify the scan tool Seat Back Heat Mode Sw. parameter is Inactive.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 5 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate driver or passenger S84 Door Switch Panel Control Module.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 4 and ground. Verify the scan tool Seat Heat Mode Sw. parameter is Active.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate driver or passenger S84 Door Switch Panel Control Module.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground. Verify the scan tool Seat Back Heat Mode Sw. parameter is Active.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate driver or passenger S84 Door Switch Panel Control Module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S32 Seat Heating Switch.
Seat Heating Switch Indicator Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate S32 Seat Heating Switch.
- Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between each control circuit terminal listed below and ground, one at a time. Command the Heated Seat Indicator ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
- Back and cushion heat indicator terminal 1
- Low heat indicator terminal 6
- Medium heat indicator terminal 8
- Back only heat indicator terminal 9
- High heat indicator terminal 10
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the appropriate control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S84 Door Switch Panel Control Module.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the appropriate control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the S84 Door Switch Panel Control Module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S32 Seat Heating Switch.
