Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 GMC Acadia, 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2016 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

B2435 02 or B2435 05

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 and X5 harness connectors at the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
  2. IMPORTANT:

    When measuring the resistance, the resistance values are based on the seat being at room temperature of 20°C (68°F).

  3. Test for 3.3 k-300 kΩ between the signal circuit terminal 4 X5 and the low reference circuit terminal 2 X2.
    • If less than the specified range, test for a short between the signal and low reference circuits. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the E14A Seat Heating Element - Driver Back.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit and low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the E14A Seat Heating Element - Driver Back.
  4. Ignition OFF, connect the X2 and X5 harness connectors to the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
  5. Disconnect the harness connector at the E14A Seat Heating Element - Driver Back.
  6. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the temperature sensor signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
  7. If all circuits test normal, replace the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.

B2440 02 or B2440 05

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 and X5 harness connectors at the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
  2. IMPORTANT:

    When measuring the resistance, the resistance values are based on the seat being at room temperature of 20°C (68°F).

  3. Test for 3.3 k-300 kΩ between the signal circuit terminal 3 X5 and the low reference circuit terminal 5 X2.
    • If less than the specified range, test for a short between the signal and low reference circuits. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the E14C Seat Heating Element - Passenger Back.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal and low reference circuits for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, test or replace the E14C Seat Heating Element - Passenger Back.
  4. Ignition OFF, connect the X2 and X5 harness connectors to the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
  5. Disconnect the harness connector at the E14C Seat Heating Element - Passenger Back.
  6. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the temperature sensor signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
  7. If all circuits test normal, replace the K40 Seat Memory Control Module.
