Ambient Air Temperature

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2016 GMC Acadia, 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2016 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The ambient air temperature is read and filtered from the ambient air temperature sensor by the HVAC control module. The HVAC control module transmits the ambient air temperature via the serial data circuit to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) for display in the driver information center (DIC). The IPC displays the ambient air temperature in English (°F) or Metric (°C) units as selected from the DIC Menu switch. The ambient air temperature is displayed on the 1st line of the DIC display and displays "- - -" (dashes) when the IPC receives an invalid signal from the HVAC control module or a serial data communication fault exists. The ambient air temperature is displayed within the Trip/Fuel DIC switch structure or page with the vehicle season odometer.
