Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement

WARNING: Replace the passenger presence system as a complete assembly to prevent possible injury to the occupant. All the components in the service kit are assembled and calibrated as a unit. Using only some of the components in the service kit will cause the passenger presence system to operate improperly. Preliminary Procedure Remove the front seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Removal and Installation . Remove the front seat front finish cover. Refer to Front Seat Front Finish Panel Replacement . Remove the front seat back recliner outer trim panel. Refer to Front Seat Back Recliner Outer Trim Panel Replacement (Power) Front Seat Back Recliner Outer Trim Panel Replacement (Manual) . Remove the front seat adjuster front shield.
1	Front Seat Cushion Cover Procedure Disengage the j-channel retainers from all four sides of the seat cushion frame. Disconnect the electrical connector, if equipped. Remove the seat cushion cover and pad from the seat cushion frame as an assembly. Separate the seat cushion cover from the pad.
2	Front Seat Cushion Pad Procedure If working on the passenger seat, the inflatable restraint passenger presence system is part of the seat cushion pad and replaced as an assembly. Re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system whenever the seat cushion or any component of the passenger presence system is removed. Refer to Control Module References . TIP: Note the new harness routing runs along the same path, but instead of clipping the harness to the top of the flex mat wire, clip the harness to the bottom of the flex mat wire. This eliminates the opportunity for the occupant loading to pinch the harness between the foam and the flex mat wire.

Front Seat Cushion Cover

Procedure

Disengage the j-channel retainers from all four sides of the seat cushion frame.
Disconnect the electrical connector, if equipped.
Remove the seat cushion cover and pad from the seat cushion frame as an assembly.
Separate the seat cushion cover from the pad.

Procedure

If working on the passenger seat, the inflatable restraint passenger presence system is part of the seat cushion pad and replaced as an assembly.
Re-zero the inflatable restraint passenger presence system whenever the seat cushion or any component of the passenger presence system is removed. Refer to Control Module References .
