DTC B1028: Rear Wiper Auto Stop Switch Malfunction
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
- Operate the rear window wiper for at least 15 seconds, then turn the rear window wiper switch OFF.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1028 Indicated?
YES -Go to step 5.
NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Check the No. 16(10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES -Go to step 6.
NO -Replace the fuse, and recheck the system.
- Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 4P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.Fig 1: Measuring Voltage Between Rear Window Wiper Motor 4P Connector Terminal No. 1 And Body Ground

Is there battery voltage?
YES -Go to step 9.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the rear window wiper motor.

Is there continuity?
YES -Go to step 10.
NO -Repair an open in the wire between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground (G801).
- Do the rear window wiper motor test (see WIPER MOTOR TEST
).
Is the rear window wiper motor OK?
YES -Go to step 11.
NO -Replace the rear window wiper motor.
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector C.
- Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor 4P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.Fig 3: Measuring Voltage Between Rear Window Wiper Motor 4P Connector Terminal No. 3 And Body Ground

Is there battery voltage?
YES -Repair a short to power in the wire between the rear window wiper motor and the under-dash fuse/relay box.
NO -Go to step 13.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to ground in the wire between the rear window wiper motor and under-dash fuse/relay box.
NO -Go to step 14.

Is there continuity?
YES -Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box.

- Canada models (see CANADA MODELS ).
NO -Repair an open in the wire between the rear window wiper motor and the under-dash fuse/relay box.
