Conditions for Setting the DTC

The ECM detects the camshaft to crankshaft misalignment by monitoring the camshaft position sensor pulses. The ECM detects one of the following conditions:

• The ECM detects that the CMP sensor pulses occur greater than 11 degrees before or after the nominal position for 4 out of 5 camshaft revolutions while the engine is operating - With HD L96.
• The ECM detects that the CMP sensor pulses occur greater than 11 degrees before or after the nominal position for 4 out of 5 camshaft revolutions while the starter is engaged - Without HD L96.
• The ECM detects that the CMP sensor pulses occur greater than 11 degrees before or after the nominal position for 24 out of 30 camshaft revolutions while the engine is operating - Without HD L96.
