Circuit/System Testing

6 Cylinder Engine RPO LLT

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X2 at the K20 Engine Control Module.
  2. Ignition ON, test for less than 0.3 V between the low reference circuit terminal 9 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test both the low reference circuit and the signal circuits terminal 26 and 36 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate fuel level sensor.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 9 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test both the low reference circuit and the signal circuits terminal 26 and 36 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate fuel level sensor.
  4. Test for 20-300 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 36 and the low reference circuit terminal 9.
    • If not within the specified range, test both the signal circuit and then low reference circuit or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the G12 Fuel Pump.
  5. Test for 20-300 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 26 and the low reference circuit terminal 9.
    • If not within the specified range, test both the signal circuit and then low reference circuit or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the B46B Fuel Level Sensor - Secondary.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the K20 Engine Control Module.

8 Cylinder Engine RPO L99 or LS3

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X2 at the K20 Engine Control Module.
  2. Ignition ON, test for less than 0.3 V between the low reference circuit terminal 31 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test both the low reference circuit and the signal circuits terminal 70 and 16 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate fuel level sensor.
  3. Ignition OFF, test for infinite resistance between the low reference circuit terminal 31 and ground.
    • If less than the specified range, test both the low reference circuit and the signal circuits terminal 70 and 16 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the appropriate fuel level sensor.
  4. Test for 20-300 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 16 and the low reference circuit terminal 31.
    • If not within the specified range, test both the signal circuit and then low reference circuit or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the G12 Fuel Pump.
  5. Test for 20-300 Ω between the signal circuit terminal 70 and the low reference circuit terminal 31.
    • If not within the specified range, test both the signal circuit and then low reference circuit or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the B46B Fuel Level Sensor - Secondary.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
