Courtesy of GENERAL MOTORS CORP.	The instrument cluster displays the engine oil pressure low indicator as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The ECM monitors the engine oil pressure switch/sensor signal circuit to determine the engine oil pressure. The ECM sends the engine oil pressure information to the body control module (BCM) via the serial data circuit. The instrument cluster receives a serial data message from the BCM requesting display of the engine oil pressure from the ECM. When the instrument cluster detects a low engine oil pressure it turns ON the engine oil pressure low indicator.
